About the checker

What does the checker look for?
Pay below the state minimum wage; a missing benefits description in states whose pay-transparency law requires one; questions about salary history or criminal history; "citizens only" wording; contractor wording on an employee job; and wording that can read as age, gender or national-origin preference.
Is it legal advice?
No. It checks for common problems using state rules we keep with their sources. Cities and counties can add their own rules, and your situation may differ, so you remain responsible for your job post.
Do you keep what I type?
No. The check runs in your browser. Nothing you type is sent to us or stored.
How current are the rules?
The state tables were last checked on 2026-10-25. Most state minimum wages change each January.
